Jumping ahead to the next Tuesday….

And we get the crappy news that the cancer had spread into Nick’s Lymph Nodes. That’s all we’d heard so far. We needed to wait to tell anyone till we had all the facts. I’m talking to people the night before, telling them he’s doing good and looks great all the while knowing this. That was hard but we did not know for sure what was all going on. So I wasn’t saying anything……
This was devastating………and deals were made with Him.
Then Wednesday, Doc Joe came in and told us ‘the rest of the story’
When they do just about any cancer surgery, they take out what is called a fat apron. In this fat apron, there were 24 lymph nodes.  Out of those 24 nodes…… ………..cancer was in one.
wow……….just wow.
Not what we were expecting to hear but still. This was awesome news. He also explained that the cancer goes from lymph node to node…it does not leap frog over a node. It will spread in succession. So if it showed only in one…it was NOT hiding in #3 by skipping #2.
This was such a load off…..
We had spent the weekend just healing. People had come to visit. I think I brought Matteo with that Saturday so he could visit….then he went home with my son, Brandon. I think Brandon’s family would have kept Matteo 24/7 till June when he was scheduled to go home. They just loved him too. We all did.
And now…to just finish healing so he could come home. That king sized bed was way too big for one person….even if the dog slept at my feet.

The path to recovery, and healing, lonely and scary, how is the new kid working out, still all full of himself?
